Start with a wide view
A whole-section photograph shows the posts, panels and nearby ground. A close-up then records the damaged board or connection. Do not push on an unstable section for a demonstration.
Explain the gate symptom
Say whether it drags, will not latch or moves at the post. A short description is more useful than assuming the hinges are the cause.
Account for access
Mention narrow passages, plants, paving and whether work can be reached from both sides. Confirm permission before arranging access through a neighboring property.
Set a realistic appearance goal
New material may not match a weathered fence. Agree whether the repair includes a finish, a larger replacement section or a deliberate transition.
Photos help start the review. Access, concealed conditions and required professional review can change the construction scope.
